A tech group has created a working robot prototype that learned how to walk within 48 hours of leaving the factory floor.
Humanoid, a London-based robotics company, revealed HMND 01 Alpha Bipedal, a humanoid robot that they believe sets a new benchmark for speed and operational readiness.
Built from initial design to functional prototype within the short span of just five months, the bot, called HMND 01 Alpha, was able to achieve unsupported stable walking within 48 hours of final assembly – a milestone that typically takes weeks or even upwards of months.

Need To Know reports that Alpha stands at an impressive 179cm (5’10”), with 29 degrees of freedom for movement, top-class upper-body strength being able to handle 15kg (33lbs) of weight.
It was designed with repeatable performance across multiple different types of jobs, including industrial, service and even household tasks.
The robot can walk in straight and curved trajectories, turn in place, squat, hop, run, manipulate objects in a precise way, as well as coordinate and cooperate with other robots, humanoid or wheeled.
Looking beyond movement, Humanoid also shared that the Alpha Bipedal can communicate with humans via a head display, LEDS, audio sensing and speakers, giving a variety of options for a variety of different tasks.
Artem Sokolov, Founder and CEO of Humanoid, said: “HMND 01 is designed to address real-world challenges across industrial and home environments.”

“With manufacturing sectors facing labour shortages of up to 27%, leaving significant gaps in production, and millions of people performing physically demanding or repetitive tasks, robots can provide meaningful support.”
The team relied on ultra-precise 3d modelling to create prototypes that matched with simulations, minimising issues caused when translating computer programming into the real world.
This advancement also allowed the team to use Nvidia’s Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab, software from the tech giant, to aid in AI simulation and development.

Using Nvidia’s leaps in AI and their own unique approach to handling data, the team were able to train the simulation on 52.5 million seconds of data within the simulation, which works out to about 19 months’ worth of conventional training, within two days.
Humanoid are a London-based AI robotics company, and they claim their company’s focus is on ‘Our visionary path towards a future where robots amplify human potential’.
