Sainsbury’s has put security tags on steaks costing as little as £4.50 to stop shoppers pinching them.
The yellow devices were just put on beef products in the supermarket in the affluent town.
The cheapest ones are 21 Day Matured Rump Steaks weighing 225g.
They cost just £4.50.
They are also on 155g, 21 Day Thun Cut Sirloin Steaks for £5.
The tags – which say ‘Security Protected’ on them – were also on 250g Dry Matured Sizzler Steaks costing £5.25.
Staff put them on Beef Escalopes too and they cost the same price.
They were spotted yesterday (11 Dec) at the store on Fleet Road, Fleet, Hants.

One customer told Need To Know: “It was really bizarre to see.
“The tags have only been put on beef products.
“Lamb, pork and chicken ones didn’t”
He added: “This is a low crime area so they must have had some thefts recently.”
The town is regarded as one of the most desirable places to live due to low crime and excellent schools.
It has good commuter links to London and the average property price is £496,632.
Sainsbury’s has been approached for comment.

It is not the first time unsuspecting items have been put under theft-busting measures.
It follows a spike in shoplifting which comes at a time of economic dip and inflation.
Last Friday (5 Dec), Tesco locked up £1.75 Cadbury chocolate bars to stop sweet-toothed crooks taking them, in Ilford, also East London.
Sainsbury’s Local in Barnet had £3 Lindt chocolate and £3.85 boxes of Persil pods protected in September.
In June, £2 packs of ham were spotted slapped with security tags in Tesco in Blackpool.
