A warning has been issued after a pet dog accidentally started a house fire – by chewing on a heated glove with a lithium-ion battery.
A pet camera captured the moment the pooch played with the glove while lounging on the family’s sofa, before becoming spooked when it started to smoke.
The dog leaps away, and the glove can be seen steadily smoking before catching fire.

The flames quickly start to spread, “igniting” the sofa.
Firefighters were called to the scene, where they were thankfully able to put out the fire and rescue the dog, as reported by Need To Know.
The footage went viral on social media, garnering 1.6 million views.
The incident took place yesterday (8 January) at a home in Orléans, Ottawa, Canada, and was attended by the Ottawa Fire Services.
A spokesperson for the team advised: “Damaged lithium-ion batteries can cause fires.
“Store battery-powered items safely, keep them away from pets and children, and stop using any battery that shows signs of damage, swelling, or overheating.”
