A theatre production of American Psycho has issued two eyebrow-raising trigger warnings for audiences – about violence and vaping.
The stage show is inspired by the blood-soaked 2000 film starring Christian Bale – adapted from a book of the same name – which is considered a modern classic.
The story follows uptight investment banker Patrick Bateman who is, outside office hours, a secret chainsaw-wielding serial killer.
Despite the huge popularity of the 1991 book by Bret Easton Ellis and the blockbuster film, those buying tickets have been warned the production includes “violence”.
The 15+ musical also has a technical trigger for more sensitive culture vultures.
Theatre-goers have been warned that the production includes “the smoking of e-cigarettes.”
The Almeida Theatre in Islington, north London is hosting the production, as reported by Need To Know.
The show starts on Friday (23 Jan) and runs until 14 March, with every date sold out.

The play is described as a “darkly satirical commentary on capitalism”.
Daytime performances start at 2pm and evening shows begin at 7:30pm.
The trigger warnings state: “This production includes depictions of violence, including towards women; alcohol and drug use; homophobic, ableist and strong language; sexual content and references to suicide.
“This production includes bright flashing lights, haze, latex, blood, guns/gunshots and the smoking of e-cigarettes.”
The Almeida Theatre has been approached for comment.
