A teacher who once sobbed in the shower and suffered abuse in the street finally feels comfortable in her own skin after losing more than 10 stone with the help of weight loss jab Mounjaro.
Becka Gill avoided mirrors and cancelled plans because she felt so ashamed of her body.
The 34-year-old weighed 19st 3lbs and wore a size 24.

Now a size eight after shedding 10st 2lbs over three years, Becka said she can finally smile at her reflection.
“Before my weight loss, I was in an extremely low place,” Becka, from Congleton, Cheshire, told Need To Know.
“I would sob in the shower because I didn’t even want to touch my own body.

“I cancelled any social life because I never felt comfortable in anything I wore or couldn’t find anything to wear.
“I felt self conscious anywhere I went and I had a fear of eating in public because I wondered what people would think of a big girl eating food.
“It meant I wasn’t able to date because I didn’t like myself.
“And I’ve been called fat in public by men and shamed for the way I looked.
“On a night out, a man told me I was fat and told his mate to come away from me.
“I didn’t respond but it cut deep.”
Becka forked out £3,000 for a gastric sleeve in Turkey in July 2022, which helped her to lose six stone.

After the operation, she regained a stone, leaving her feeling frustrated and worried she would never reach a place of comfort in her own skin.
Determined not to give up, she turned to Mounjaro in January 2025 alongside making sustainable lifestyle changes.
Becka said she has faced criticism online for her surgery and for using the jabs.
She said: “My family and friends have always been incredibly supportive of the choices I’ve made to lose weight.
“Obviously, both options I’ve taken are controversial to some.
“I’ve had a lot of comments online – mostly supported but there’s always the trolls out there that want to put you down or want to put their opinion across.

“People are quick to tell me I’ve taken the easy way out but, again, unless you’ve actually been through this journey you don’t actually realise how difficult it actually is and how much work you have to put in if you’re doing it properly.”
Now at a weight she describes as “comfortable”, Becka is focusing on toning up and working out to achieve the aesthetic she wants.
But she insists the biggest transformation has been internal.
She said: “I’m finally at a point in my journey where I feel truly comfortable in my own skin.
“For the first time, I smile at the person looking back at me in the mirror.
“I still don’t really believe I can order clothes and have them fit perfectly when they arrive.

“No sending things back, no second-guessing sizes.
“It feels surreal. But more than that, it feels right.
“I finally feel like the real me, the version of myself I’ve always wanted to be.
“And it’s changed so much more than just how I look.
“It’s transformed how I feel. I’m happier. I’m living life the way I’ve always imagined.
“I find joy in the smallest things now. I laugh more and I romanticise everyday moments.”

“I even enjoy going to the gym.
“It took time to rebuild the confidence to walk back through those doors but now I genuinely look forward to working out.
“Exercise isn’t something I dread anymore, it’s something that makes me feel strong, capable, and proud.
“For the first time in a long time, I feel like me.”
