A lucky litter of newborn kittens was whisked to safety after being found in a crusher on a landfill site.
The five black cats were so young their eyes hadn’t yet opened.
But they were found by workers who were servicing machinery.
The crusher was just about to be returned to work.

Thankfully the workers intervened and called in help from a rescue centre.
It happened at Crapper and Sons, Royal Wootton Bassett, Wilts.
John Williams, who works there found the animals, as reported by Need To Know.

He said: “Unfortunately, no sign of mum, but I had to move these beautiful kittens from where they were, due to the machine being cleaned.
“I have no idea how long they had been there, or where the mother is.
“Judging how small they are, I’d guess they were only a couple of days old.”
It’s believed the kittens were born to a feral cat.
Mark Lambourne from Shelter Paws Cat Rescue went and collected the kittens.

He said: “It doesn’t bear thinking about if they hadn’t been spotted.
“They would have been crushed.
“They’re only a few days old.
“And are only just opening their eyes.
“We went back to try and find their mother but she wasn’t there.
“It’s not surprising because it’s a busy place with lots of lorries going in and out.”
Since being rescued the kittens are being bottle-fed around the clock.
