A man has been charged over a shocking animal cruelty incident after a distressed dog was seen cowering in fear.
Police allege a 41-year-old man was caught mistreating the animal sparking an investigation that quickly gained widespread attention.
It will be alleged the incident unfolded at around 9.15am on 30 April along Hooker Boulevard, where the man was seen behaving aggressively towards the dog.

Need To Know reports that footage linked to the case, which circulated widely online, showed the terrified animal attempting to retreat, prompting outrage and urgent calls for action in Broadbeach on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Following investigations, a 41-year-old Broadbeach Waters man was taken into custody and charged with animal cruelty.
He is due to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on 18 May.
Authorities confirmed the dog has since been removed from the situation and is now in the care of the RSPCA.
The footage had sparked a wave of public concern, with many calling for the animal’s safety to be prioritised and those responsible to be held accountable.
Police had earlier appealed for information as they worked to identify the individual involved and piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The case has reignited concerns about animal welfare, with authorities reiterating that cruelty offences are treated seriously and can result in significant penalties.
Investigations remain ongoing.
