More than two months later, Trussville Police announced that 54-year-old Jeffrey Scott Towers had been arrested and charged with manslaughter following what officers described as an “extensive investigation”.
According to police, Towers was taken into custody without incident on Monday (11 May) after detectives obtained an arrest warrant through the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, as reported by Need To Know.

Authorities have not publicly released details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.
Reports from local outlets stated the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office had previously ruled the shooting accidental.
Robeson had graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University in 2025 with a degree in interior design.
Her obituary said she had recently started work as a trade consultant with Restoration Hardware in Birmingham – described by her family as the role she had “always wanted since she was a little girl watching HGTV”.
The tribute described her as a talented and caring young woman who was “grounded by her faith” and known for her “kindness, talent, attentiveness, and integrity”.

It added: “Whitney was hitting her stride exactly the way we always knew she would.”
Robeson was also remembered for her close relationships with friends and family, her love of travel, and her time as a member of the Delta Gamma sorority while at Auburn University.
In the obituary, her family said: “To have known Whitney, no matter where, how, why, or for how long, is to have been touched and transformed by her radiant soul.”
Police said Towers was released on a $30,000 bond after his arrest and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
