A police sergeant has been jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of raping two women.
Campbell Petrie’s catalogue of offences included the physical and sexual abuse of two victims, with the first offences as early as 17 years ago.
Following his release, Petrie – who has maintained his innocence – will be subjected to community supervision for three more years.

He was first accused in 2009 when a victim reported him for threatening behaviour, but no further action was taken due to a lack of evidence.
A second woman accused him of rape in 2023, launching a sex crime investigation.

In December of the same year, he was arrested, charged and suspended, retiring from the force a year later.
A judge at the High Court in Glasgow has jailed him for 12 years after finding him guilty in September this year of all eight charges, including four counts of rape.
Petrie is one of four Police Scotland officers who have been exposed as sexual offenders in the past five months. Cameron Ross, Alan Greer, and John Williamson were all found guilty of similar shocking offences.
