A Green politician has climbed out of a coffin at a public event to grab online clout.
José Luis Romero Calzada was carried into a park inside the wooden casket.
Helpers set the box down in front of the cheering crowd.

An MC then yelled for noise to “bring him back to life”.
The crowd chanted his nickname as music filled the park.
Seconds later, the lid opened.
The mayoral hopeful sat up, stepped out of the coffin, and danced in front of the audience.
The stunt took place at Luis Donaldo Colosio Park in Ciudad Valles in San Luis Potosí State, Mexico, on Monday (31 Aug).
Romero, better known as El Tecmol, is a Green Ecologist Party hopeful for mayor in 2027.
The gathering was billed as an “aura farming” contest, an internet term for pulling a wild stunt to look cool online.
Critics said he was using a youth trend to jump the gun on the next election.
He lost the same mayor’s race in 2024, as reported by Need To Know.
He joined the Greens in 2025 after many years representing other parties.
The party has said he does not yet have the nomination, but also told him not to skip official campaign dates.
Tecmol is a former state deputy and a local businessman.
The nickname comes from his grandfather’s firm.
He has a record of viral stunts, including kissing a donkey and a campaign striptease.
He has not issued a formal statement on the coffin act.
The event itself was a street contest that he joined and not an official party rally.
The 2027 municipal race is still more than a year away.
