A 14-year-old lad has admitted going into a McDonald’s armed with a GUN.

The teenager was arrested by firearms officers who swooped on the fast-food restaurant

Horrified diners – including families with young kids – watched on in horror as they tucked into their burgers.

The tea time drama happened in Fleet, Hampshire just after 5pm on 3 December.

One customer said: “It was very scary to see.

“We were just ordering our food then all of sudden police officers with guns walked in.

“They went out the back with the staff.”

The schoolboy was arrested for possession of the fake firearm and  having it to intimidate or cause fear of violence.

A Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 5.16pm on Saturday, 3 December to a report that a teenager with a suspected firearm had entered McDonald’s on Fleet Road in Fleet.

“Firearms officers attended the scene and located an imitation firearm.

“A 14-year-old boy, from Fleet, was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

“He was also arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.”

“It is believed this was an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public at this time.”

The unnamed youth was released on conditional bail.

After a seven-month investigation, the Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson added yesterday (12 Jul): “He received a conditional caution.”

A conditional caution is an admission of guilt but not classified as a conviction.
