An angry shopper went on a rampage in a branch of Sainsbury’s and smashed bottles of red wine on the floor.

Broken glass was left strewn on the floor near the tills along with a pool of spilled plonk.

It has also spread into the first aisle.

The lout also chucked ready meals of bottles of squash over the floor.

A display stand was pulled over and shopping baskets were knocked over.

Staff were left stunned at the aftermath of the mindless vandalism.

It happened at the Sainsbury’s Local on Celebration Avenue, Stratford, East London on Wednesday (18 Sept) just before 2pm.

One staff member said: “F*ck.

“Everyone is okay.”

He then added: “He’s gone, he’s outside.”

Local Calvin McDonald said: “A tough one, but I’d probably look to detain this person.

“Just because I couldn’t deal with the guilt if they went and did something to someone else afterwards.

“I’d get the staff to open the backroom and I’d handle him in there until the old bill arrive.

“A morally tough one.”

Stuart Kew fumed: “Absolutely no repercussions or consequences.

“That’s why this despicable behaviour is happening so frequently.”

Steve Smith said: “Whatever happened to law and order.”

Leon Docherty added: “Becoming all too commonplace in south London of late unfortunately.

“There has been a very discernible and marked breakdown in law and order in the last five years.”

Another – named Bob – said: “Khan’s London looking like a war zone again.”

Cops have arrested a suspect and he is in custody, as reported by Need To Know.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 1:54pm on Wednesday, 18 September to reports of a man damaging items in a shop on Celebration Avenue in Stratford.

“A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

“He was taken to an east London police station where he remains at this time.

“There were no reported injuries.

“Enquiries continue.”

Sainsbury’s has been approached for comment.
