Lionesses’ fans will need a minimum of £90 a day to enter Switzerland for the Women’s Euros due to a bizarre travel rule.

Sarina Wiegman’s team kicked off their campaign against France in Zurich on 5 July.

The reigning champions will be hoping for a repeat of their 2022 success and go all the way to the final in Basel on 27 July.

Fans in their thousands will be making the trip to the host nation to cheer them on.

However, supporters will need to put their money where their mouth is due to an odd ruling.

The well-known European tax haven may require travellers to show proof of finances upon arrival.

Lionesses fans will need to have at least £90 in their bank account for each day of their stay, as reported by Need To Know.

With supporters hoping to go all the way to the finals border control may request to see a minimum of £1,980 in punters’ banks.

The rule is featured in the Foreign travel advice document for Switzerland published by the UK Government.

It states: “At Swiss border control, you may also need to show proof of your accommodation, for example, a hotel booking or proof of address if visiting your own property.

“Show proof of insurance for your trip.

“Show a return or onward ticket.”

But it adds: “Prove that you have enough money for your stay – around 100 Swiss francs a day.

The conversion rate for 100 Swiss francs is equal to £90.
