Beefy firefighters pulled off a mooo-velous rescue after a cow plunged into a canal and got stuck.
The hefty 100-stone heifer was too exhausted to clamber out, leaving crews in North Walsham, Norfolk, to stage a tug-of-war to save her.
Ropes and straps were fixed around the animal as firefighters yanked her free by hand, as reported by Need To Know.
A Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called to a job on Anchor Road where a particularly large cow had gone for a swim to cool off in the canal and ended up getting stuck.
“When our Carrow and North Walsham crews arrived, alongside our specialist water and animal rescue teams, she was a little worn out and confused.
“And it was a challenge to get her out of the water.
“But not to be cowed, and with some bullish determination the crews got her moo-ving upstream along the river.
“Eventually she was able to escape and return to her field with her mates.
“An udderly delightful end to our tale.”
Local Joy Down quipped: “Dairy me brilliant work.”

Another said: “Glad your determination paid off and you were able to safely moove her into her field.”
Diane Temple added: “What would we do without people like you in our lives.”
