A £1.7m yacht burst into flames at an exclusive holiday hotspot while two adults and a child were on board.
Shocking footage shows the luxury vessel engulfed in flames, sending a thick column of black smoke billowing into the sky.
Firefighters could be seen hosing down what remained of the 16m (52ft) Bluegame BG54, reportedly worth around €2m.
According to reports, the yacht caught fire while sailing between Capo Ceraso and Tavolara in Sardinia, Italy.
Three Italian nationals – two adults and an 11-year-old boy – were on board the Italian-flagged vessel.
They abandoned ship before emergency crews arrived and were rescued by a nearby pleasure craft.
They were then transferred to an Italian Coast Guard vessel and taken safely ashore, as reported by Need To Know.
The Italian Coast Guard said: “All were in good health, although understandably shaken by the ordeal.”
Coast Guard vessels and firefighters were dispatched to the scene, where they worked to bring the blaze under control.
The yacht later sank about one nautical mile off the coast in waters around 20m (66ft) deep.
Authorities are now monitoring the area for any potential pollution.
Early reports suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault, although the exact cause remains under investigation.
