A singer who made headlines thanks to her romance with a ghost has revealed she is inundated with messages from men begging her to marry them instead.
Brocarde, 38, a singer and songwriter from Oxfordshire, first fell in love with Edwardo – the ghost of a Victorian soldier – last year, after he appeared in her home.
The couple communicate through unique methods, with the ghost sending cryptic messages in the shower.

Edwardo proposed to the singer in November 2021, when she claims to have found a diamond ring on her pillow after the pair had a fight – which she interpreted as a romantic proposal.
Ever since she announced their engagement, Brocarde’s inbox has been flooded with up to 10,000 messages – many of which are from men begging her to dump Edwardo.
One message read: “You are too stunning to get hitched to a dead man. I’m alive baby alive and ready for you! Marry me?”
Another message said: “Omg don’t marry that psychotic spirit, marry me. I will treat you right and not scare you like that! I can leave messages on the shower and take you away for real.” [sic]

Someone else wrote: “I’m a real soldier in the army I’m not Victorian or dead or anything special but I’m a good hard working bloke who will look after you and show you a good time.”
Another fan even wrote her a poem begging her to “dump your ghost” and “choose me instead”.
Someone else asked her to be their own “corpse bride”, while another potential suitor insisted Edwardo could not give her the “full marriage experience”.
While Brocarde hasn’t been swayed by any of the messages, they have left Edwardo fuming.
“I didn’t say a word but Edwardo is furious about them, when I read them the lights flickered like crazy, the room turned ice cold and my phone just went black and died,” Brocarde told Jam Press.
“It wouldn’t turn back on for hours even when I plugged it into its charger.
“Mysteriously, when the power came back, several of the messages were in my trash folder so Edwardo is not amused.”
The singer herself chooses not to engage with the messages, leaving her admirers unanswered.
She added: “I love it when people reach out and send lovely messages about my music and designs or show genuine interest in what I create, but the personal notes about dating, sex or critiquing my appearance just make me feel really uncomfortable.
“My mind often boggles, I often feel mischievous and get tempted to reply and say ‘yeah sure let’s get married’ just to see what would happen next. I never do though as strangers online can be far more scary than ghosts.
“I’ve always had such random, quirky and unique messages that I’m almost immune to the craziness, so nothing really surprises me anymore.
“I think it was more the amount that was scary, hundreds of messages per hour, it was impossible to function because of the sheer amount of proposals and love bombs hitting my inbox.
“The one thing that makes me laugh is that I seem to have some imaginative admirers, the messages are hilarious; one guy wanted us to sleep in a coffin, another collected taxidermy insects and another’s biggest selling point is being “alive” – I mean, what more could you possibly want?”

While Brocarde isn’t tempted by any of the new suitors, her romance with Edwardo hasn’t always been so solid – with the ghost left fuming after she appeared on ITV’s This Morning last year.
Luckily, she managed to win back his affections by penning a love song on Halloween last year.
They are currently planning their wedding – and the musician plans to perform a romantic ballad for her ghostly beau.
She added: “I’ve really tried to pull out all the stops and I’ve written him a magical wedding song, which I plan to walk up the aisle to.
“It’s always been my dream to write my own wedding anthem and the paranormal, haunting element of Edwardo’s presence has provided me with so much inspiration.
“He’s really pushing me to the edge of creativity and challenges me to open my mind to a whole new world.”
