Six footballers had to be taken to hospital after their coach was pelted with rocks and explosives by rival fans.
The attack happened as the Fortaleza team was heading back home after the match with Sport Recife ended 1-1.
Players were left covered in blood as they held seat-cover slips to their wounds.
One player said: “Look at my arm. It wasn’t a stone, it was a bomb.”

Loud bangs can be heard in warzone-like footage of the attack as it unfolded.
And images of the aftermath show coach seats covered in smashed glass, homemade projectiles, and blood.
The match was part of the Copa do Nordeste competition among north-eastern Brazilian teams on Wednesday (21 Feb).
Goalkeeper João Ricardo received a cut to his eyebrow from a stone and needed six stitches in hospital.
Defender Gonzalo Escobar, from Argentina, was left with head trauma and cuts to his eyebrow and mouth.
He received 13 stitches and will be given a CT scan.
Four more players – Dudu, Titi, Brítez, and Lucas Sasha – were cut by flying glass shards.
Fortaleza CEO Marcelo Paz believes the attack was planned.
He told local media: “There was a homemade bomb.
“Six players were injured and a premeditated homemade bomb.
“If a normal person threw a bomb at a bus, they would be arrested.
“Why does a criminal do this to a football team and not get arrested?”
Both Sport Recife and the Brazilian Football Confederation have also condemned the attack.
Sport has also offered “to assist in investigating the facts and identifying those involved in this criminal act”.
