A stricken light aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on a beach.
CCTV footage shows the single-engine plane hurtling through the air towards the shoreline.
As it loses altitude, it makes a sharp right turn to align itself with the beach.
The aircraft hits the ground at speed and bounces up and down as it skids along the sand.
Another piece of footage taken on the beach shows how the plane came to a stop with its nose in the sand.
It had taken off from Espírito Santo, Brazil, bound for Jacarepaguá Airport in Rio de Janeiro.
Horror had struck near Maricá, in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Area, when the engine shut down in mid-air on Wednesday (10 Jul) evening.
Three were on board the aircraft at the time: the pilot, a businessman, and the president of the Brazilian Bar Association in Espírito Santo State.
The latter, José Carlos Rizk Filho, described their survival as a “great miracle”.
Luckily, Itaipuaçu Beach appeared empty when the plane touched down at around 5:30 pm.
The sun had only set minutes earlier, meaning there was still natural light at the time.
The authorities are investigating the accident, as reported on Need To Know.
It was reported on Tuesday (11 Jul) that the aircraft was being dismantled to be sent to Vila Velha, Espírito Santo State.
