He was just yards from his house when he stopped his car and got out in a bid to seek help.
But before he could find anyone, he collapsed.
Some locals found him slumped on the ground near his vehicle and called for an ambulance.
Paramedics arrived on the scene, resuscitated him, and took him to a local hospital in Trieste, east of Venice, Italy.
Medics found that Pavel had had a cardiac arrest, which had been caused by anaphylaxis from the wasp sting.
In hospital, his already-serious condition worsened further, despite the medics’ efforts to save him.
He passed away in the ICU on Tuesday (30 Jul) evening following a period of coma.
Pavel, 47, was a chef and sommelier, as reported on Need To Know.
He was stung at the cemetery on Friday (26 Jul) evening.
He was reportedly well-known and well-liked in his native Trieste.
He had won a local “cook of the year” award in 2012 for his “pumpkin cappuccino in an edible cup featuring toasted almonds and pieces of foie gras”.
He was closely involved with the Trieste Chefs Association and the Association of Chefs from Mediterranean and European Regions.
Tragic Marc’s mum died in 2019.
