It happened in Hartlepool, Co Durham — one of the areas in England where riots have been occurring.
One witness said: “It’s important to recognise that peaceful protest is a fundamental right.
“Crossing the line into violence and destruction undermines the cause and endangers’ lives.”
They told Need To Know: “Rioters who overstep this boundary not only disrupt public order, but also harm their own communities and the very principles they claim to stand for.”
Over the past week, violence has broken out in areas such as Blackpool, Hull, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham, among others.
The riots came after three girls were killed in a knife attack in Southport last Monday (29 Jul).

“I can’t believe this is the country we are living in.”

Em added: “So they’re apparently doing this because of the kids that were killed.
“But are risking other kids’ lives in the process. Makes sense.”
“That’s disgusting destroying people’s homes and communities,” said a third.
Nicki added: “I’m balling my eyes out here.”
“Why didn’t anyone help,” penned Gemma.

Another person said: “People just standing and filming rather than helping.”
“Would have controlled it better if everyone had put their phones away and actually helped,” Kieran added.
