Adele, one of the world’s most celebrated singers, has announced that she will be taking an indefinite break from music to focus on her personal life.
The 36-year-old made the emotional announcement during the final show of her European tour in Munich, Germany, telling fans that she would not be performing again “for an incredibly long time.”
The London-born star, who recently revealed her engagement to US sports agent Rich Paul, explained that after years of hard work and public performances, she now wants to enjoy the life she’s been building away from the spotlight.

“I just need a rest,” she told the crowd. “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now.”
Adele’s decision comes after a marathon period of performing, including a two-year residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and a record-breaking series of concerts in Munich.
Her 10-date stint in Germany alone sold over 730,000 tickets, making it the largest temporary arena ever built, with a capacity of over 73,000.
Despite her success, Adele admitted that performing doesn’t always come naturally to her. “I’m not the most comfortable performer, but I am very f good at it,” she joked. “I’ve really enjoyed performing for nearly three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever done, and probably the longest I would ever do.”
During her final Munich show, Adele also reflected on the journey she’s been on, thanking her fans for their support. “I’d like to thank you so much for coming to my show this evening, I would like everyone who’s come to any one of my shows ever to know I thank you so much for coming,” she said, adding that she would miss her fans “terribly” and would carry the memories of these performances in her heart during her break.
While Adele still has 10 shows left in her Las Vegas residency, which had been delayed earlier due to illness, she made it clear that after these final performances, she would be stepping back from the stage for the foreseeable future. “After that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart for the whole next of my break,” she told her audience.
Adele’s engagement to Rich Paul was also confirmed earlier this month during a Munich gig, where she responded to a fan’s marriage proposal by revealing that she was “already getting married.” The couple has been together since 2021, and Adele has often spoken about how Paul has brought joy and stability to her life.
As she prepares to conclude her Las Vegas shows in November, Adele leaves behind a remarkable legacy in the music industry. She first rose to fame in 2008 with her debut album “19,” followed by the critically acclaimed albums “21” and “25.”
Her latest album, “30,” released in 2021, marked a triumphant comeback after a five-year hiatus and featured performances at the British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park.
Adele’s fans will undoubtedly miss her presence in the music world, but her announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life—one that she is ready to fully embrace.
