A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court, charged with the murder of 80-year-old Bhim Kohli, who was fatally attacked while walking his dog in Franklin Park, Braunstone Town, Leicestershire.
The assault happened near the park’s Bramble Way entrance at around 6:30 PM BST on Sunday.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, Mr. Kohli sadly passed away the following day due to injuries sustained during the attack.

A post-mortem confirmed that he died from a neck injury.
The boy, whose identity is protected due to his age, made a brief appearance at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
During the hearing, he confirmed his name and address, wearing a black jumper and tracksuit bottoms.
He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Leicester Crown Court.
Mr. Kohli’s family paid tribute to him, describing him as a joyful presence in their lives. “Bhim loved to laugh.
He was always very happy and talkative, the joker of the family and always loved to outsmart us with a smile,” they shared in a statement.
The attack has left the local community in shock, with floral tributes now laid near the park’s entrance where the tragedy took place.
Andrew Baxter, deputy chief crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), highlighted the need to ensure the boy receives a fair trial, urging people to refrain from any reporting or online commentary that could affect the proceedings.
Leicestershire Police, having had prior contact with Mr. Kohli, made a voluntary referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
After further discussions, a mandatory referral has been submitted. The IOPC is now assessing the case to determine what additional action may be required.
As the community grieves this devastating loss, investigations continue while the legal process takes its course.
