A 31-year-old woman has died of cardiac arrest during a liposuction procedure after finding a doctor on social media.
Paloma Lopes Alves fell unwell at an aesthetic clinic yesterday (Nov 26) while attempting to slim down her back and stomach.
The eyelash salon owner suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and was rushed to a hospital.

But she later died there in São Paulo, Brazil.
Her devastated widower Everton Silveira said Paloma did not know the doctor personally and had arranged the procedure through social media.

She reportedly met him in person for the first time on the day of the procedure, which she had paid 10,000 BRL (£1,366) for.
Silveira told local media: “I want justice for Paloma.
“I took my wife to fulfil her dream, and now we have to bury her.
“I can’t believe this is happening.
Hydrolipo, also known as tumescent liposuction, is a type of liposuction performed under local anaesthesia, as reported by Need To Know.

The doctor injects a solution containing anaesthetic, saline, and adrenaline to constrict blood vessels and minimise blood loss.
Hydrolipo has gained popularity for being faster, more convenient, and cheaper than traditional liposuction.
However, only small areas can be treated, as the doctor is restricted by the amount of anaesthetic he or she can use.

Overuse can lead to local anaesthetic toxicity, which, in turn, can lead to the patient suffering a cardiac arrest.
Other complications common to any form of liposuction include perforation, thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism.
Alves lived and worked in Vargem Grande Paulista.
Her funeral will take place today (Nov 27).
