Some appeared to be carrying iron bars.
They thrust them around in the air in an attempt to strike anyone in their path.
As the fight raged on, a parasol was knocked out of the ground.
Small children could be seen standing close to their parents and one mother was spotted trying to get her daughter out of the way.
According to a lifeguard who witnessed the shocking scene, one man was stabbed and taken to hospital.
He also claimed that a group of around seven people started to hit a woman.
Before things could escalate further, the police arrived.
The fight occurred on 11 January on Caleta Abarca beach, in Viña del Mar, Valparaíso, Chile.
After the Carabineros of Viña del Mar intervened, four people were arrested including two men and two women, as reported by Need To Know.
Both men who were arrested had suffered injuries from the fight, with one man dealing with pain to his chest.
The other man’s left hand was left covered in bruises.
Upon being detained, it was discovered that the same two men already had a criminal record.
They had previously had dealings with the police due to possession of drugs, theft in uninhabited places and threats.
However, everyone arrested was eventually released.
It is thought that the fight began after a heated discussion between beachgoers over an alleged robbery.
The lifeguards on the beach claimed that every time something like this happens it is due to alcohol consumption or not respecting the marine guard.
Sandro Puebla, the councillor of Viña del Mar, said that resources have been invested in improving the security of the area but it isn’t always enough.
He bashed the incident, stating that “crimes or problems of coexistence of any kind will not be accepted” on the beaches.
