A luckless footballer’s bike theft was caught on camera as pals filmed training.
The mobile phone was set upright on the artificial pitch pointing towards one of the goals as he practised his saves.
As the players were busy exercising, a man walked up to the Honda motorcycle parked behind the pitch.
He started fiddling with it and its light came on immediately.
At the same time, a male voice could be heard yelling: “The bike! The bike!”
The crook began wheeling the motorcycle away at speed as the players ran towards the exit.
Most stopped in their tracks as he managed to ride away on the bike.
Just one player could be seen legging it after him in vain.
The victim, called Martín, told local media: “When I see the guy go for the bike, I’m the one who shouts, ‘The bike’!’
“Because I see him get on it, and in two seconds, he starts it up.
“I still don’t know how. I can’t figure out how he managed to start it.
“When I got back and they brought me my bag, I saw the key was still in there. It hadn’t been in the bike.”
Martín alerted the police, who began checking the footage from CCTV cameras in the area in Córdoba, Argentina, on Wednesday (22 Jan) night.
They saw how the rider stalled, only for an accomplice to arrive on a second bike and help him make off with the Honda.
It’s believed the suspect started the bike using a key “shaped like an arrow”, as reported by Need To Know.
Martín said: “They’re professionals because he was sure the bike would start and he’d be gone in two seconds.”
The footie lover vented: “It’s infuriating. I feel angry and helpless because I work hard every day, only for someone to steal my bike in two seconds.
“They’ve put up cameras, but if no one’s watching them or responding, what’s the point?”
