A 40-year-old piranha has been saved in a miracle after the aquarium where it lives broke.
Kasia was then nursed back to health with bananas.
Her tank got damaged and staff noticed that there were wet stains on the floor.

They then realised that Kasia’s aquarium was cracking.

They rushed to transfer the sharp-toothed fish to a new home and called local firefighters who rushed to the rescue.
Other local aquariums were contacted also for assistance.
The fire service were able to provide a temporary tank for Kasia, and they pumped the old water from the aquarium into it.

Ichthyologists, who are specialists involved in the observation and study of fish, decided that it would be best for them to use the water from her usual habitat.
Whilst they moved quickly, staff and experts became worried after it appeared that Kasia was stressed.
She did not want to eat and had started to swim on her side, causing employees to watch her closely over night.

It took an entire two days before they started to see improvements in Kasia’s condition, which was a huge relief for all.
It happened at the Museum of Sea Fisheries in Świnoujście, north west of Warsaw, Poland, which began last Sunday (9 Mar).
But her health took a complete turn two days later.
According to piranha experts, she regained her appetite by eating fish food and also bananas, as reported by Need To Know.

Joanna Agatowska, the president of Świnoujście, said: “The whole of Poland is talking about our Kasia.
“Please keep your fingers crossed.
“We are impatiently waiting for the new aquarium.”
A Museum of Sea Fisheries spokesperson said: “Meaningful support was provided by the staff of the Maritime Institute of Fisheries.

“A temporary tank was provided by firefighters from the State Fire Brigade.
“Joanna Agatowska and Vice President Roman Kucierski visited the museum and provided support.
“Thanks to the efforts and support of many people, the situation seems stable and we hope that it will have a happy ending.”
