According to local press, the approximate value of the money left by Li was around £140,000, as reported by Need To Know.
Eventually, a bystander called the police in case the money had been accidentally dropped.
It soon turned out that Li had put it down in the street on purpose.

According to local police, Li stated that the money had gone mouldy due to being kept inside his home for too long.
He told them that he had decided to bring the money outside so that it could ‘sunbathe’.
Police advised Li to take the money to a bank and he agreed to do so.
It happened in Tainan, south west of Taipei, Taiwan.
