One of the world’s tallest men, who was dubbed a “gentle giant”, has passed away at the age of 67.
George Bell stood at an impressive 7ft 8in.
He didn’t reach his full height until his 20s and is believed to have been diagnosed with gigantism, reports Need To Know.

The condition, which causes an overproduction of growth hormones, didn’t hold him back in life, though.
He went on to work in law enforcement and played basketball at college before going professional.

In 2007, he earned the Guinness World Record title as the “tallest person in America”.
Not only that, he also had a stint at acting in American Horror Story: Freak Show, appearing as himself.
While he previously revealed having trouble fitting in cars, finding clothes and sleeping in beds, he learned to deal with them as they are – and not let it become an issue.

George, who grew up in Portsmouth, North Carolina, US, passed surrounded by his friends and family at home in Durham, North Carolina, on 19 March 2025.
The cause of his death is currently unknown.
