A man got a flashing toy ball stuck up his anus, a shocking report has revealed.
The unidentified man, 62, was admitted to hospital after suffering from pain due to “anorectal foreign body insertion”.
Further investigation revealed that the source of discomfort was a children’s flashing elastic water ball, which was made of water and plastic.

An anal digital examination revealed that the ball was stuck in the man’s rectum – around 7cm away from his anus.
A further CT scan showed the spherical object had a diameter of around 65mm, as reported by Need To Know.
The man was then given a colonoscopy which revealed a higher than normal blood flow in the area and swelling of the mucus membrane.
There was also minor localised bleeding.
Under general anaesthetic, doctors used a scalpel to pierce the ball and drain it of water.
It was then successfully removed using forceps and a foreign body clamp through the man’s rectum.
In the aftermath of the procedure, another colonoscopy showed annular erosive bleeding but no active bleeding or perforation to either the anus or the intestine.
The removal of the children’s flashing ball was cited as a “successful” example of a minimally invasive procedure.
