A poor German Shepherd ended up going bald after being neglected by her sick owners
Marmaduke was “left to suffer” for months with a horrific skin condition after her owners failed to get her vital treatment.
She was found with severe fur loss, inflamed skin and a chronic, painful disease that vets said had gone untreated for at least two months.

Emma Townsend, 36, and Jason Drewery, 38, have now been convicted of causing unnecessary suffering.
Officers visited the couple’s home after concerns were raised about the dog’s welfare.
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “Marmaduke had significant hair loss across her back and hindquarters, her skin appeared sore and inflamed, and there was a strong smell of yeast.

“It was clear she had been suffering for some time without the veterinary care she desperately needed.”
A vet later confirmed Marmaduke had endured long-term discomfort which could have been easily prevented with proper treatment.
Despite pleading not guilty, Townsend and Drewery, of Dersingham, near King’s Lynn, Norfolk, were convicted in their absence at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court on 4 November, as reported by Need To Know.

Townsend was handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, plus a £154 victim surcharge.
Drewery – who has been battling drug and alcohol issues – received a 12-month Community Order, including 15 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement days, six months of alcohol treatment and 200 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay a £114 victim surcharge.
Both were banned from keeping animals for five years.

An RSPCA spokesperson added: “Poor Marmaduke would have been in terrible pain, and it is heartbreaking to know she suffered so needlessly.
“Owning an animal is a serious and lifelong responsibility. When problems arise, it’s vital to seek professional help immediately.”
Marmaduke is now recovering at the RSPCA’s Danaher Animal Home, where staff say she is thriving and patiently waiting for a loving new family.
