An expat allegedly stabbed his younger brother to death before video-calling his family back home to show them the body.
An argument broke out on Thursday (30 Apr) afternoon when Nayan Sheikh was visiting his older brother’s flat.
The row escalated into a fight and ended with Humayun Sheikh allegedly stabbing Nayan, 28, three times in the living room.
One of the stab wounds – a blow to the back in the lower lumbar region – proved fatal, according to the post-mortem examination.
As Nayan lay on the floor in a pool of blood, Humayun, 33, reportedly video-called relatives in Bangladesh and showed them the body.
With the knife still in his hand, he is said to have shouted to his parents: “Your money-making machine is over! I killed him.”

On the other end of the call, his distraught family reportedly begged for a doctor to be called immediately, in the hope Nayan might still be alive.
After another Bangladeshi man inside the flat raised the alarm, police arrived and arrested Humayun at the scene in Tricase, Italy.
He did not resist and reportedly admitted responsibility while in a state of shock.
Officers seized the weapon – a kitchen knife with a 23cm (nine-inch) blade.
The brothers worked at the same bar in Tricase Porto.
They were described as hardworking, close, and well integrated.
Humayun is believed to have arrived in Apulia in 2022, while his brother joined a refugee reception system a year or two later.
A large portion of their earnings was sent back to their family in Munshiganj, Bangladesh.
At a hearing yesterday (4 May), Humayun reportedly appeared distressed and confused.
He admitted holding the knife but claimed the blade “accidentally” struck his brother, as reported by Need To Know.

He also spoke about a strained relationship with his father and brother, but did not explain why or provide a motive.
He reportedly said: “I didn’t want this to happen and I don’t know why it came to this.”
Some reports suggest the motive may be linked to remittances and a plot of land owned by the family’s father, though this remains under investigation.
The victim, whose name is also transliterated as Noyan in some reports, leaves behind a wife, according to Bangladeshi media.
Some reports from Bangladesh give the suspect’s and victim’s ages as 27 and 21, respectively.
Humayun remains in custody in Lecce and has been charged with murder with aggravating factors.
