Remarkably, he escaped unharmed.
The heart-stopping incident happened near Siji Village in the Lower Siang region of Arunachal Pradesh, India, on Sunday (28 June).
The landslide buried the road and completely blocked the Siji River, creating a natural dam and raising fears of a potentially devastating flash flood.
Officials warned that if the barrier of mud and debris gives way, a surge of water could be unleashed downstream.
Authorities in Lower Siang issued urgent alerts to people living along the riverbanks, warning them to stay away from the water, remain vigilant and prepare to evacuate if necessary.
The Siji River later flows into Assam as the Gai River, sparking concerns for communities further downstream, as reported by Need To Know.
In Assam’s Dhemaji district, flooding has already affected 69 villages and more than 15,000 people, damaging homes, farmland and infrastructure.
Forecasters have warned that heavy rain is set to continue across parts of the region.
The dramatic escape comes as relentless monsoon downpours trigger landslides and flooding across north-east India.
Emergency teams remain on high alert as officials closely monitor water levels and the stability of the debris dam.
