A dog has been rescued by police officers after being ‘stoned’ on a terrace by thugs. Outraged locals filmed the poor pooch cowering on a rooftop terrace. The clip shows the attackers appearing to throw broken tiles and buckets of water at the cornered animal as it squeals in fear. The authorities confirmed that the dog, named Wanda, was rescued from the property in the Colombian capital Bogotá on 13 December. The animal rights group Platform Alto received footage of the abused animal and shared it on X, where it went viral with 1.4 million views. They wrote: “Neighbours reported that this little dog is being mistreated daily and is in serious danger. “They throw bricks and other blunt objects at him, as seen in the video. “They have called the authorities but no one comes. “It is urgent they send the anti-cruelty squad to rescue the dog before it is too late.” The group’s post was seen by other animal rights organisations and local officials, including Colombian senator for animal rights Andrea Padilla Villarraga. She later tweeted: “The dog is already in the hands of Animal Protection Bogotá and they are starting the paperwork to open an investigation. “This has just been confirmed to me. “Thank you to the Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare as well as the Carabineros of Colombia.” The Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare said in a statement: “Our Anti-Cruelty Squad, in a joint operation with the Carabineros and Environmental Police, carried out the rescue of Wanda. “The dog was a victim of neglect and alleged mistreatment.” It is unclear if the animal’s owner was arrested during the rescue operation. According to the institute, over 7,800 animals have been rescued with signs of abuse in Bogotá this year alone. The authorities have charged 619 peopl

A dog has been rescued by police officers after being ‘stoned’ on a terrace by thugs.

It is unclear if the animal’s owner was arrested during the rescue operation.

According to the institute, over 7,800 animals have been rescued with signs of abuse in Bogotá this year alone.

The authorities have charged 619 people with animal abuse and so far obtained convictions in 212 cases.

The investigation into Wanda’s alleged abuse is ongoing.
