Doctors have been left stunned after finding a giant vegetable lodged up the bottom of an elderly man.
The man, 72, whose identity is not known, received urgent treatment so that the large cassava could be removed.
The food, also known as yuca or manioc, is a starchy root vegetable native to South America.

An image from an X-ray showed it was wedged deep inside the man’s rectum.
According to the man, the incident had occurred during an intimate moment with his partner.
After being seen by a doctor, he underwent surgery to have the cassava removed.

The operation was successful, and he is said to be recovering without any complications, as reported by Need To Know.
A doctor who works at the hospital told local press that he has dealt with similar situations.
He said in the past he has removed items such as bottles, flashlights and bananas.

The doctor reiterated the importance of going to the hospital immediately to avoid major complications.
And he has warned others against partaking in similar activities.
The man was treated at the ESE Department of Tomás Uribe Uribe Hospital, in Tuluá, Valle del Cauca, Colombia.
