The 50-year-old had a can lodged inside his anus, with the item measuring approximately five inches long and nearly two inches in diametre.

Doctors were unable to remove the can with their bare hands.
Director of colorectal surgery, Shao Yancheng, and Shen Mingyin removed the item during a two-hour operation.
General anaesthesia was required to relax the patient’s sphincter.
At first, the doctors attempted to use minimally invasive transanal instruments to remove the foreign object.
But the edges of the item were too smooth to allow sufficient grip.
Then, they noticed that the tab used to open the can was facing outwards, which assisted in safe removal of the object.
The patient recovered well and was discharged from the hospital the next day, as reported by Need To Know.

Shao, who works at China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital in Taiwan, has emphasised that the patient was extremely lucky.
He said: “People engage in stimulating behaviours out of curiosity, but it may cause serious sequelae.

“The foreign body may cause intestinal necrosis or rupture, causing severe intra-abdominal infection, and an artificial anus may be required after surgery.
“I have been working in the industry for 10 years, and I have encountered incidents of weird objects being plugged into the anus, such as wine bottles, batteries, muscle music, etc.
“I urge you not to engage in dangerous behaviours.”
