A charity shop was forced to close its door after a wild badger on the loose took over the store.

Staff were left stunned when the unusual customer made its way inside the business.

The adorable badger cub hid itself in the corner and would not leave.

Workers made the decision to shut up shop to avoid any customers being attacked by the animal.

Badgers are known to be dangerous when feeling threatened or concerned.

Shoppers looking to pick up a second hand bargain were informed of the shop’s closure by a sign in the window.

The sign in the window of the Crewkerne, near Yeovil, Somerset based shop read: “Apologies. We’ve had to close due to a live badger in the shop.

“We are just waiting for an inspector, we will reopen ASAP.”

Fortunately for the business two assistants from RSPCA West Hatch Wildlife arrived at the scene and managed to lure the badger into a cage.

Not leaving empty paw’d, the cub grabbed hold of a crown that was for sale.

Staff allowed the animal to keep the item which inspired her name King Louis – before they knew she was a girl.

The badger is now being looked after at the RSPCA’s local centre as they search to find where she came from.

The closure of the shop took place on (10 Aug), as reported by Need To Know.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “Shop workers in a charity shop in the centre of Crewkerne couldn’t believe their eyes when a badger cub ran into their store and hid herself in a corner.

“Two of our wildlife assistants attended and managed to encourage the cub into a cage and as she ran in she dragged in a crown, that was for sale, with her.

“The shop workers let her keep the crown as a parting gift and even named her King Louis – before we knew she was a female.

“She has since made herself at home at our centre while the local area is searched for the sett she came from.

“With the help of Somerset Badger Group she should be back in the wild very soon.”
