A 21-year-old man allegedly stabbed his police inspector stepdad to death following an absurd row over an escaped parrot.
Victim Ciro Luongo reportedly became furious at Roberto Marchese for leaving the bedroom balcony door open and letting the bird fly away.
A neighbour across the road recovered the parrot while the argument was raging on Monday (18 Aug).

Ciro’s wife went outside to collect it, but when she returned, bloodcurdling screams were heard from the flat.
Roberto allegedly grabbed a 30cm kitchen knife and stabbed his stepfather in the chest multiple times.
He then fled the scene in Melito di Napoli – near Naples, Italy – leaving 58-year-old Ciro lying in a pool of blood.
Roberto was traced later that evening to his biological father’s house in Bacoli, around a 40-minute drive away.
It was the couple’s son – Roberto’s half-brother – who revealed what had happened, as reported by Need To Know.
Ciro served as an inspector in Giugliano and was described by colleagues as an “exemplary police officer” and a “good, kind man.”
Neighbours said it was the first time they had heard arguments or screams coming from the family flat.
However, local reports suggest relations between Ciro and Roberto had been tense for some time, with mutual resentment simmering beneath the surface.
Roberto is now in custody in Naples.
Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said yesterday (19 Aug): “From a preliminary analysis, it seems to be entirely a private, personal matter.
“A terrible tragedy, as unfortunately happens from time to time.
“Now the investigators will do their part.”
