Doctors were left shocked after finding a bizarre object lodged in the intestine of a 10-year-old boy: a rubber baby bottle teat.
The child had been vomiting and experiencing stomach pain for four days prior to coming into the hospital.
Upon examination, the patient, who has autism and a history of similar incidents, was found to be dehydrated, and his stomach was tender.

Doctors undertook an X-ray on his stomach, which found the fluid-filled rubber teat lodged in the jejunum [middle section of the small intestine].
A picture of the scan shows the item clearly visible inside the boy.

An emergency laparoscopy showed the object stuck, and it had to be surgically removed, with the area sewn up afterwards, as reported by Need To Know.
The child’s appendix was removed at the same time, though it is not believed to have been due to him ingesting the bottle teat.
A picture shared by the doctors in a medical report shows the full-size teat and the appendix following their removal.
The boy, believed to be from Saudi Arabia, was discharged five days after the operation and referred for a psychiatric consultation.
