At the time of the fire, there were about 60 guests in the resort complex.
They were relocated to other hotels in the area, as reported by Need To Know.
The fire broke out at the Fantasy Island Beach Resort on Roatán Island, the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras.
The venue’s structure, built largely of wood, was gutted in the blaze.
A hotel spokesperson said: “We have already spoken to the Foreign Ministry and they will support us with the foreign guests.”
The Fire Department received the alert at around 7pm but control efforts lasted until 1am the following morning.
They battled to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby areas.
Fire chief Wilmer Guerrero said: “We had difficulty getting water to the site because we had to cross a wooden bridge that was in bad condition and the tankers couldn’t pass through.”
The blaze broke out just as the hotel was preparing for the Easter holidays, one of their busiest periods of the year.
According to initial reports, the fire likely originated in the kitchen area.
Flames reportedly damaged the kitchen, 36 rooms, a restaurant, a nightclub, three bars, a convention centre, a crafts shop, a boutique, and a reception area.
No injuries were reported, although material losses are believed to be considerable.
The investigation into the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
