A woman has shared a simple hack for cleaning stained water bottles in “seconds” – and all you’ll need are a few pieces of dried pasta.
Molly East, 22, from Long Melford, Suffolk, wanted to sort out her pet guinea pigs, Dazza and Andy, and rabbit Martha’s grubby water bottles, which were stained green from sunlight exposure.
Remembering a tip her mum had once taught her, she added a drop of water and five pieces of dried penne pasta to the bottle and gave it a shake.
Incredibly, the pasta removed the green from the plastic and the bottle came out looking good as new.
“It works by the pasta hitting the sides and picking up the greenness at the same time,” Molly, a receptionist, told Jam Press.
“The bottle was very green and old-looking – I think it’s the sunlight that caused the greenness.
“Afterwards, it looked brand new!”
Molly shared the simple tip on Facebook, writing: “A trick I learnt from my mum a little bit of water and dried pasta give a shake and gets rid of all green from an animal water bottle in seconds ¬– you literally only need like 5 bits of pasta nothing extreme.”
Hundreds of people liked her post, taking to the comments to thank her and share tips of their own.
