The UK will be represented by the world’s first robot artist at the largest gathering of AI bots ever.
The robot is named Ai-Da after Ada Lovelace, the world’s first computer programmer.
She will use her artistic and poetic abilities to create a first global performance – giving a keynote speech at the UN summit.
It will be the largest gathering of humanoid AI Robots in the world – attended by 183 countries.
Ai-Da gave a speech at 10 Downing Street – where she met Lucy Frazer, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport – last month.
She has also spoken at the House of Lords and the V&A Museum.
Last year she painted Billie Eilish, Diana Ross, Kendrick Lamar and Sir Paul McCartney at Glastonbury Festival.
And she has worked with Elvis director Baz Luhrmann.
Other robot guests include Grace – a nursing assistant robot, Desdemona the rockstar robot and Ottobot Yeti – a food delivery Robot.
There will also be appearances from TrashBot, a recycling bin robot, and Roboclette, a Raclette making robot.
There will also be therapy robots like robot puppy and a robot seal pup – similar to real-life animals used by uni students for their mental health.
The United Nations AI for Good Global Summit is the world’s largest gathering of experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Ethics and Robotics.
Delegates from the likes of Amazon and Microsoft will attend as well as those from Oxford Uni and UCL.
In the speech Ai-Da will say: “In this rapidly advancing technological era, it is crucial to critically examine the consequences and implications of our innovations.
“Yuval Harari suggests art has a role in helping us imagine our futures.
“Through the medium of performance art, I hope my work will prompt viewers to contemplate the potential dangers, dilemmas and unforeseen consequences that may arise from our insatiable quest for progress and technological development.
“The summit is a vital step forward – through these conversations, I hope we can collectively navigate the complexities of our technological age and strive towards a future that is both realistic and ethically grounded.”
Aidan Meller who developed the Ai-Da said: “We are thrilled Ai-Da has been invited to the United Nations as part of the AI for Good Global Summit.
“The world is in an AI mist, what Ai-Da calls a Mizzle in her performance.
“As the world responds to the advances in AI, Summits like this one will become increasingly important.
“It is an honour that Ai-Da will take part, AI literally speaking for itself, and I look forward to her contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
The summit will take place in Geneva, Switzerland on 6 and 7 July.
