The boy fell from the jutting platform while his mother was momentarily distracted, according to local reports.
The mum immediately called for help and the emergency services arrived promptly on the scene.
They performed first aid on the boy for a head injury he sustained.
He was then taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
The accident took place at the Atlixco Glass Lookout in Atlixco City located southeast of the Mexican capital Mexico City on Sunday (14 Jul) afternoon.

Doctors are confident the youngster will make a full recovery in the coming days thanks to the quick response of paramedics on the scene.
The boy has yet to be identified and it’s unknown if he is a resident of Atlixco or a tourist visiting the viewing platform with his family.
The local authorities confirmed that the accident was not due to any structural problems so the attraction continues to operate as normal.
They also urged parents to supervise their young children at all times, as reported on Need To Know.
The glass platform offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and active Popocatépetl Volcano.
