Tragically Leonardo, known as Leo, died hours later from the head trauma sustained on landing.
A post-mortem examination ruled out any possibility that he had suffered violence before the fall in Bariloche, southwest of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Leo was not staying at the hotel but was there visiting friends who were.
His classmates told investigators he was alone in the room when the incident happened.
Leo was born in Americana, close to São Paulo, Brazil, as reported on Need To Know.
He attended the Anglo-American College in Hernandarias, Paraguay, where he lived with his family.
He was hoping to study mechanical engineering at university.
Leo was laid to rest in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, Brazil, on Tuesday (16 Jul) eight days after the tragedy.
His English teacher, Evelin Urunaga, wrote: “I can’t believe it. It’s so hard to accept that you won’t be in class any more.
“Wherever you are, I want you to know that I will always remember your self-confidence, your sense of humour, your joy and your unique personality.”
Leo is survived by his parents and his sister.
The Argentine police are investigating the case.
The authorities currently believe the most likely scenario is that he fell by accident after opening the window.
