The roof gave way after being pounded by heavy rain during an intense storm on Wednesday (4 Sept).
At least five people in the shopping centre sustained injuries when they were showered with the broken glass.
The mall in question is the Plaza Áuriga shopping centre in San Pedro Garza García, near Monterrey, Mexico.
Civil Protection workers were dispatched to the scene to tend to the injured, according to local media.
A 35-year-old man was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.
A woman and another man were taken to a clinic with minor injuries.
Two others were treated at the scene, as reported by Need To Know.
There was so much rain at the time that businesses were flooded.
A “waterfall” was also filmed beneath the hole in the roof after the cave-in.
The whole shopping centre had to be evacuated by the first responders to get the shoppers out of harm’s way.
Plaza Áuriga said in a statement: “The safety and well-being of our customers, employees, and visitors is our top priority.
“Which is why we will remain closed until the necessary checks are completed.”
