Two days later (10 Sept), three suspects were arrested in connection with the case.
Her body was discovered in Zaandam, Holland, on 8 September.
Local media identify them as a 51-year-old man from Amstelveen and two men, aged 19 and 30, from Amsterdam.
However, according to Romanian media, the person who killed Ana Maria, 34, is understood to be a British citizen.

Ana Maria was well-known in her home country because her partner Gabriel-Alexandru Vasiliu, had appeared in a reality dating show on Romanian TV.
They were already civilly married but were due to hold their religious ceremony in Romania later this month.
Vasiliu is currently serving a three-year prison sentence for human trafficking and drug possession.

He had requested temporary leave from prison to attend the ceremony.
Ana Maria had moved to the Netherlands after her husband’s incarceration, as reported by Need To Know.
Shortly before her death, she had called him to tell him that she was out shopping and would soon return home to cook.
His mother claims he is devastated by his wife’s death and is receiving counselling in prison.
He has requested temporary leave to attend her funeral in Ploiești – Ana Maria’s hometown – on Saturday (21 Sept).

However, some reports say messages found on her phone suggest that Gabriel had pressured her into engaging in shady work.
Some reports say she was forced to send the additional income directly to Gabriel’s account.
Forensic experts have reportedly listened to voice messages in which she confesses that she fears him and his friends.
Ana Maria will be laid to rest in the dress she was supposed to wear for her wedding.
She is survived by her mother and her seven younger siblings, who have no idea why she was killed.
