A content creator living in Tampa Bay – an area in Hurricane Milton’s path – has documented his experience of camping during the weather event.

Mike Smalls, a streamer, was recently slammed for his viral escapades during Hurricane Helene.

Now, the 26-year-old has left tens of thousands of viewers shocked after live-streaming himself in a tent during the Category 3 storm that has left Florida in ruins.

In the videos, he can be seen camping out during high winds.

Mike brought an air mattress as well as a tent, as he attempted to sit through the storm – airing the experience for his followers.

He told Need To Know that he chose to camp out again in the hopes of winning a prize after fellow content creator, Adin Ross, offered $70,000 USD to another streamer to chase the hurricane.

Mike added: “I also streamed it again to prove to all the critics that I could do it again without getting injured or hurt to any degree.”

In the 50-second clip, he clings to a tree and becomes visibly panicked when the high-speed wind surrounds him.

During the livestream, one worried viewer promises Mike $10,000 if he leaves the area and gets to safety.

Mike can be heard asking: “Are we locked in at $10,000, yes or no?”

He then continues: “I want to go home, I’m done.”

Hurricane Milton made landfall at around 8.30pm last night local time near Siesta Key, in Florida.

Residents were urged to evacuate the area, which led to many petrol stations running out of gas.

For those who have stayed home, preparations such as ensuring there is enough non-perishable food available have been essential.

Mike, from Tampa Bay, Florida, is no stranger to streaming in such conditions.

He received millions of views during the recent Hurricane Helene.

“I decided to stream myself during the hurricane because I knew that it would be something creative and new [that] the live streaming industry hasn’t really seen before,” Mike previously told NeedToKnow.

“Plus, I’ve always liked storms growing up so the idea of ‘storm chasing’ really appealed to me.

“I knew some may find it shocking, entertaining, dumb, comical or even off-putting.

“Although I knew that regardless of the reactions I got from the audience, and what people’s opinions were, people would still tune in just to see what would happen.

“I did a lot of extensive research before attempting to pull off a stunt like this.

“It was just enough to get a highly suspenseful live stream in.”
