Vengeful locals have ended their ‘war on sharks’ as tourists return to a popular beach after two horror attacks.
Vigilante fishermen have taken to the high seas to track down sharks and deliver their own form of justice.
Their killing spree follows the attack of two tourists in the resort town of Tela in Honduras in an eight-day period.

The first tourist was reportedly attacked near the Port of Puerto Castilla on 6 October.

On 14 October, a second holidaymaker was seriously injured while enjoying a dip in the sea near the town centre.
Roberto Carlos Bu Mejía, 38, was left with gaping wounds on his torso and right leg, as reported by Need To Know.

Angry locals went out to sea and found a shark they believed was responsible for attacking Roberto.
In the footage, the fishermen are seen dangling bait in the water before hooking the shark.
They drag the animal to the surface and position it alongside their boat.
A fisherman then batters the shark’s snout with a club.

The predator struggles to swim away, but the man keeps it next to the boat and continues whacking it’s head.
A group of fishermen then found a hammerhead shark in the sea on 16 October.
They killed the animal and dragged its carcass ashore to parade in front of locals.
In response, the mayor’s office of Tela issued a statement advising residents not to enter the sea looking for marine predators.
And coastal areas remained closed to the public as the local population remained on high alert.
The beaches were eventually reopened on Monday (28 Oct).
Locals ventured to the sandy coast to tentatively try the water two weeks after Roberto was mauled.

The resort town had been deserted while vengeful fishermen sought justice for the shark attacks.
Monday saw the first signs that Tela is slowly returning to normal and confidence is returning to the hesitant community.
Beachgoers sunbathed peacefully on the golden sand and no sharks appeared in the water.
Business owners hope that tourists will soon return in high numbers as it was before the start of this month.
