A driver was slapped with a £150 fine after their passenger lobbed McDonald’s rubbish out of the car
CCTV captured the moment the McFlurry tub and brown bag were thrown out of the door.
When the driver was asked who their passenger was, they said they couldn’t remember.

Under the law, if a local authority can prove that litter was dumped from a vehicle, a penalty notice can be issued to the registered keeper.
This is even if someone else discarded the rubbish.
The blunder meant it was a very expensive McFlurry – which cost just £1.19.

It happened in the village of Bugle, near St. Austell, Cornwall.
Councillor portfolio holder for Environment and Climate Change at Cornwall Council, Martyn Alvey said: “We will not tolerate littering of any kind and I hope this sets an example to others.
“Please put your rubbish in the bin or take it home with you. Cornwall is a beautiful part of the world and we want to keep it that way.”

Locals were left angered by the passenger’s littering, as reported by Need To Know.
Dennis said: “Give the driver 50 hours of beach cleaning as well.”

Bobbie said: “Revolting low life.”
Matt said: “I’m all for penalising litter bugs.
“They help make certain areas look like the third world. I’d be much happier to see the actual litterer fined though.”
Amanda said: “Good and it should be standard practice to fine litter droppers that do it on purpose, normalise it.”

Joanne said: “Good. Sadly we see lots of rubbish in our side lanes. Our wildlife and farm stock are all affected by this.
Bring back the old public announcements and adverts on TV. People have lost their way.”
