The family had arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to climb to the viewpoint of the famous 98ft high statue.
Jorge, of Rio Grande do Sul, fell ill while climbing the steps.

While the victim’s son called for help, his daughter-in-law carried out CPR to try to revive him.
It only took four minutes for a park staff member to reach the victim, as reported by Need To Know.
But paramedics did not arrive on the scene until 34 minutes later, according to witnesses.
A souvenir shop employee arrived first to help with the resuscitation attempts.
The tourist’s distraught son was removed from the scene, but his daughter-in-law remained.
Later, a worker arrived with a defibrillator that the nurse used on her father-in-law.
But sadly he died on Sunday (16 Mar).

The park remained closed for two days.
An investigation into his death is ongoing.
