In a clip shared by the rescue team, which has racked up 33,000 views and over a thousand likes, they share the moment she was saved.
It begins with showing the woman holding onto the ridges of the cliff, before she screams as she’s lifted into the air.
The video then cuts to the beginning of the rescue mission.
A never-ending span of cliffs are shown, along with the team who were called to help.
As they communicate their plans with each other, they prepare to exit the helicopter.
One of them notes: “It’s looking fairly steep”.
The hiker, at the top of the cliff, appears to shake as the team descends.
She screams: “I can’t hang on,” as a man shouts: “hold onto me”.
It’s a struggle at first to bring her away from the wall of the cliff.
She lies face down on the ground, before being handed a drink of water.
Her legs are scratched, dry and bleeding.
The hiker is then shown being hoisted into the skies by the helicopter and then onboard to safety.
The rescue mission, which happened on the Pacific Crest Trail, California, US, was undertaken by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit.
According to their post, she was able to send an emergency text to 911 via her Garmin-type emergency communications device.
They said: “As you can see, this was an intense, technical rescue.
“Due to her very precarious spot, which she was exhausted from that position for over an hour, and with a heavy pack with unsure fitting, the rescue specialist determined the safest option was to bear hug her and climb to the top.
“He just could not risk asking her to lift her arms, that she was clearly death gripping the cliff with, in order to place a rescue strap on.
“As you can see, they both had quite the adrenaline dump once on top.”
It’s believed the hiker was safe apart from a few minor injuries.
The trail is known for being quite tricky and the team note it’s been “quite busy” for them this season.
